Few things

She should have known better, undoubtably. Even so, she could not regret her decision to challenge the prince. Not now that they sat on a branch side by side, their arms gently touching and sending waves of warmth throughout her body.
She watched him with anticipation, awaiting her punishment but finding that it never appeared. Instead, he asked to kiss her.
Evie drew a shaky breath. Her head told her no and that she should leave him hanging for a while longer but her heart told her to go for it. To not deny herself what she craved and what he obviously craved as well.
“My prince…” She began, about to tell him no but she got caught looking into his beautiful blue eyes and all rational thoughts slowly but surely vanished. In the end, she smiled coyly and nodded. One kiss would not ruin anything, she told herself. If anything, a taste might leave him wanting even more and that couldn't possibly be a bad thing.
“I would like that very much.”

Luca rarely slept much. He went to bed late and got out of bed early and yet he seldom felt tired during the day. His lord father and younger sister were both similar to him in that regard and people at court often made jokes and claimed that the Romanos had no time for sleep because they spent all their time scheming.
There was some truth to it. While their family had built quite the reputation around their ability to scheme, going back many generationers, no one knew the true extent of it. No one knew that Luca spent almost all of his early mornings doing things that in the middle of the day or the evening would have created too much suspicion.
He turned a corner but came to an abrupt stop when he almost walked right into someone. Within seconds he had realized that he stood in front of the queen and bent down into a deep bow.
“Your Highness.” He greeted her with every bit of politeness required. Then he stood up and intwined his hands behind his back, giving her a smile which also exuded politeness.
Her surprise, in turn, surprised him. Most people at court knew that the Romanos were early birds. Although come to think of it, he seldom saw the queen herself awake at this hour and so her lack of information regarding who usually roamed the castle in the morning wasn’t particularly strange.
“I find that few things can compare to the fresh morning air, My Queen.” He explained calmly. “I was heading to the gardens, for my morning walk.”
