Play a game
It was clear as day that the prince was up to no good. He stepped closer and whispered in her ear and although Evie wanted nothing but to give him everything he sought, she feared that his interest would dissolve the moment she did. If she failed to keep him entertained and longing for more, he would move on to the next woman who looked to be willing sooner than later.
She turned her face up and her lips softly brushed across his chin.
“If none of them were to find out…” Her body delicately pushed against his. “Then I suppose one kiss could do no harm.”
Her lips journeyed across his jaw, closer and closer to his until they were mere millimeters apart. That was when she, instead of giving him the kiss spoken about, took a swift step back and giggled. She obviously hated the distance that had once more been created between them, but it was necessary. For now. Somehow, she had to exhibit that getting with her would never be easy.
“We will play a game.” She said, not sure where she found the nerve to give the prince an order. “If you win, I will grant you one kiss and one kiss only.”
Her smile turned mischievous and she increased the distance between them with one more step.
“Will you play with me?”

The king was not happy with this statement and ordered Luca to hold his tongue, to which the young man frowned and glanced towards his father.
Lucian Romano did not look happy. In fact, as the king and queen began to exchange whispers, the old lord gave his soon a look of utter dissatisfaction, to which Luca couldn’t help but frown.
His plan had backfired with the king reacting in the opposite way of what had been intended. Instead of wanting Andy more, it seemed he settled for second best and turned his attention to his wife instead.
Lucian nodded towards the couple and Luca knew exactly what his father meant. Fix it.
“My apologies, Your Majesty.” He said with a smile on his face. “You are right. I should not speak about my sister in such ways. Especially since I’ve heard that a very special man has caught her attention. She has not yet given me his name I’m afraid, but she speaks highly of him. It was wrong of me to disgrace her name.”
“Indeed.” Lucian Romano agreed, father and son both pretending as if they could not possibly know that the man Andy gushed about was the king himself. “Not, let us not divulge further into my daughter’s business. After all, we can do naught but speculate.”
“Indeed.” Luca repeated and shot his father a smile before he bowed his head to the king. “Your Majesty.” With those parting words he turned to the queen, bowing his head to her as well. “My Queen.”
He turned and walked away, praying to the God above that he had somehow managed to salvage the situation. If the king turned his attention away from Andy for too long, Luca would never hear the end of it.
