A safe journey
Naturally, Evie had hoped that the prince would see fit to help the poor orphans, but she had not dared assume such a thing about a man she hardly knew. Even though they had spent some time together, she kept finding new sides to him, all of them magnificent. She kept saying that he would make a wonderful king and he kept on proving it.
“I am sure that will be of great help.” She said softly and turned her attention to the little babe in her arms. Perhaps he would stand a chance in life after all? Perhaps all of them would, with the help of prince Milo.
“It will.” Miss Mary said. “Children, did you hear that? Lord Milo has offered to be our patron! Say thank you to this kind, generous man.”
They did, all of them. Evie smiled and kissed the babes head before turning to the prince. The little boy had awoken as the children began loudly thanking the so-called lord.
“Would you like to hold the little life you may be saving, my lord?” She asked him softly, for his ears and his alone, and presenting him with the babe. He had stood no chance of surviving until now and it was all thanks to the prince.

Of course, he was concerned for her safety! The king much enjoyed spending time with her and Jasper much enjoyed… Watching her. That did sound awfully creepy, but he did not mean it in the stalking way. He merely meant that she was a beautiful woman and he was naught but a man.
Still, he could not go with her. He was a servant, the king’s personal servant. He had been ordered to deliver a letter and now that he had, he must return to his master.
“No, My Lady. I am not allowed to leave castle grounds if not permitted by the king.” And he dared not assume that the lady would wait while he went and asked the king for his permission to escort her home. A permission he feared that the king might not care enough to give.
“I wish you a safe journey, Lady Andrea.” He took one step back, his blue eyes now stuck on hers. For the sake of his family, he had to prioritize his job. He was already at the risk of losing it and leaving his post may be the final nail to the coffin, a risk he could not take. Besides, if the lady wanted to venture into the storm then that was her mistake to make. A mistake he feared might be deadly.
