HAPPY AS A CLAM
An inn did not sound all that bad considering the option would be to stay out here in the rain which was coming down with more and more velocity.
“Surely they would not deny a noble man and woman a place in an inn?” She sounded nervous that they’d not be able to find room, but surely they did not need much? All long as there was a room with a bed, a fire, some good food and ale and perhaps a warm bath, the prince would be as happy as a clam!
“Wait, out of site? Now, my lady! I couldn’t possibly do my people the disservice of existing in the same building whilst being concealed” He mused, trying to lighten the mood. He could see the worry in her face, but there was no need for it. The prince knew how to fend for himself.
When she pulled off her own cloak he finally grasped her hands in his and held them to his chest, her hands still clutching the cloak.
“My lady, I will not put you at risk of catching an illness. Please do not worry about me, I am quite warm and comfortable” He lied and smiled calmingly. “Well, maybe less comfortable but that will be sorted once we get indoors.” He continued and glanced down the street. He could only hope the inn was not too far away.
Dominic had been listening to the conversation but said nothing. Unlike servants, however, knights carried about them an annoying sense of pride which always made them speak freely and stare freely at the royals. Milo could feel the man’s eyes stare at the pair of them where they stood in the rain.
“Now, let us hurry to the inn” He continued and took her arm to escort her to their saving grace.

There was something strange about the way he looked at her. Most servants kept their eyes down, and she had gotten so used to not seeing his that they seemed far more blue and pretty than any eyes would normally be. Maybe she had hit her head after all…
Now, she didn’t exactly WANT him to put her down. She was quite comfortable in his arms. However, they both needed to find refuge someplace out of the rain and cold, and if both walked it would happen faster. So she swallowed her crude remark and nodded.
“Yes” Was all she croaked out. He was a servant! Why in the world was she finding her mouth so dry and him so handsome?! Had she no shame?
