Their eyes met, but Evie was quick to look away again, a slight blush on her cheeks. The prince had the most enticing gaze, and she found herself wishing to do things with him that she had not done with any other man before. Things that wouldn’t be appropriate for an unmarried couple. Not that they were a couple at all. They were nothing.
“Gladly.” Miss Mary said and reached her arms out, most likely wishing to relieve Evie of the burden of the little babe. However she saw it as no burden and therefor kept the young child in her arms, kissing his head once more.
“You two go ahead.” She spoke. “I will wait here with the children.”
She was in no need of a tour, since she had been here many times before and seen everything the house had to offer. Or rather, didn’t offer.
“Can you tell us a story, Evie?” One child asked and she nodded with a growing smile.
“I would love to!” She said, ultimately sitting down on the floor. The children gathered around her, all with hopeful smiles. They loved stories and who could blame them? It gave them a chance to look beyond this house.
“How about a story with…” She considered it for a moment, then smiled mischievously. “A dragon?

While Jasper understood why the lady felt humiliated, he wasn’t sure what about the incident had caused this kind of raging reaction. Surely, she would still be in the king’s favor even though the queen had read the letter and found out about their affair? He would be daft to give up on a lady as beautiful as Andrea.
“At once, My Lady.” He said, still neglecting to look at her since such a thing could be considered impolite. He had no right to speak out of turn with royalty and nobles, and although looking at them wasn’t officially forbidden, it could often be considered rude and a sign of disrespect.
She started walking and he had no choice but to follow her through the long corridors until they reached the outside of the castle, where he was surprised to find raindrops dripping down on his blonde hair. In the distance, he heard thunder rumble as well.
Jasper did not know where exactly the Romano estate was located but he knew that it was at least a half hour ride from the castle. The king had mentioned as much, a couple of times.
“Lady Andrea.” He said, following her to the stables but uncertain if readying a horse for her to ride in this weather was a good idea. “May I suggest that you wait until the weather has settled? Or allow me to find you a carriage.”
It would take some time but surely, if he asked the king, he would spare the lady one of his carriages.
