Shelter

He jested, but it did not soothe her worry. The prince would have been safely stored at the castle during this terrible storm if not for her! She had jeopardized the future of the entire kingdom.
“My prince.” She said, watching him intently as he refused her cloak. “You are not a bad liar, but you are not that good either.” He was neither warm nor comfortable, she could tell. However, she still wrapped the cloak back around her shoulders and then grabbed hold of his arm. If he refused her help then she had no choice but to take him to the inn as quickly as possible and find him a room where he could warm up.
By the time they reached the inn, both of them were drenched. Both her dress and cloak were clinging to her body, and what little warmth her cloak had previously been able to give had been replaced by that cold dampness. She was shaking like a leaf when they finally stepped through the doors, and as suspected, the seating area that worked as a pub was filled with people.
“Stay back.” She told the prince, since she did not want him to drag too much attention to himself. Unfortunately, such a thing was hard for a man who was both tall and broad and handsome.
“I will get you a room.” Evie caressed his arm and then made her way to the bar, to have a word with the innkeeper.

Yes? For some reason, she did not sound neither sincere nor convincing. Yet, she had clearly stated that she wanted him to put her down and as a servant, he was in no position to question her decisions. No matter how much he disliked them.
“As my lady commands.” He softly said and then slowly lowered her back to the ground, making sure she stood steady on her feet before he let go of her and took a step to the side. He knew that it was time for him to lower his gaze and yet, he could not do it. He wasn’t sure why, but it might have something to do with her striking beauty. Even now, when wet and muddy and injured, she was breathtaking.
“Do you know if there is any place close by where you can take shelter, My Lady?” Jasper asked, praying that she knew these parts of the lands better than he did. “It is much too dangerous for you to be out in this weather. We must get you somewhere safe.”
