What's the matter

For a second, Milo thought she was unhappy with how he had responded to the situation.

And then she thanked him.

It made him tilt his head, a serious look on his face. She should not need to thank him. It was his fault she had been in that situation in the first place, really. It was his own guard that had attacked her, and he had left her alone with him, despite knowing the rumours that surrounded his character.

“No” He held his hand up. “Please, do not thank me. I put you in a bad situation to begin with.” He shook his hand again, and peering down at it realised that his knuckles were bleeding. He had thought the blood had been from the man’s nose, but realised now that his own hand had taken a bruising as well.

“And I think we are far past royal titles at this point, don’t you think, Evie?” He said his name purposefully as he raised his brow at her, a small smile on his lips. He would certainly still be using the official titles around others, but he felt closer to Evie than most ladies he’d known before. It felt strange to hear her use his official titles when she seemed to have become just Evie a while ago.

Andy smiled and nodded, happy to see him oblige her and sit down. Surely he had not thought she’d have him just stand there whilst she ate and drank?

Then again, that was usually what he was tasked with as a servant… His world seemed so far removed and different to her. It made her curious more than anything.

“Yes, thank you.” They both knew these words were somewhat complicated. He had no idea where she lived, as far as she knew. It was more likely that he would simply help her obtain a horse or carriage and send her on her way. Hopefully she could somehow locate her damned horse too…

Finally, the food arrived and Andy started eating the bread almost straight away. It was the woman from behind the bar that had brought it all over and Andy was happy to see a spread of various foods. There was warm bread, soup, some cheese, fruit and even little cakes. Andy felt as though she had been starved when she smelled the feast in front of her.

Andy noticed the servant’s eyes on her and suddenly became more continue of how it must look, a lady like herself tucking into food like she’d never seen it before. So, she leaned back and picket up her drink.

“So, Jasper…” She looked at him with curiosity. “Well what’s the matter? The food is great, just tuck in” She encouraged nodding to the food in front of them. The woman had brought over two’s of everything and it was clearly meant to be for two! So why wasn’t he eating with her?
